The Best LBD For Your Shape

Unless you were born yesterday, you know that the little black dress (or LBD) is the ultimate wardrobe staple. Simply put, black looks good on EVERYONE and an LBD is always there to save the day! The good news is there’s an LBD for everyone, the bad is there are so many options out there and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out which one best flatters your body type. That’s where I come in to help.

It's all about shopping for your shape, not your size. That’s what it really comes down to is knowing what works for your individual body type so you can highlight your best features and step out in confidence. Scroll down to find the LBD that's going to maximize your style potential!

If you’re a Triangle…The key for you is to draw attention upwards so look for a slightly low cut or V-neckline. A cowl neck with the right bra will create the the illusion of a fuller bust; stick to a form fitting silhouette.

If you’re an Inverted Triangle…Look for details that create curves on your bottom half such as peplums or even a mermaid hem. One thing to avoid like the plague are boatnecks, they will only make your shoulders look wider, when the goal is to soften them.

If you’re an Hourglass…Show off that gorgeous figure! I’m all for the bootylicious movement but if you want to accentuate your waist without drawing attention to your..derriere, a fit and flare  dress is the way to go. If you want to highlight your enviable assets, go for a bodycon. Bodycons don’t have to be boring by the way, look for one that has texture or subtle detailing.

If you’re a Diamond… Choose a dress that cleverly disguises your belly such as a trapeze or empire waist silhouette. Bonus points for details such as ruching, which does double duty by creating curves and camouflages your midsection.

If you’re a Ruler...Choose a dress with a cinched waist and a flared bottom or a form fitting peplum that gives your figure an hourglass appearance. You can pull off everything with proper styling, if you really want to create curves choose a drop waist dress with a ruffled hem.
